I really enjoyed getting to listen to all our seniors talk about their work at the art opening on Thursday. They have some neat stuff and each have such a distinct style. That I didn't expect to be so pronounced. Great job seniors.

portland

Some friends and I went to down town Portland on Saturday. I had never been before so it was a lot of fun to visit a couple galleries, powell's and just walk around down town.

field trip

here are my pics from our field trip at the air museum and the alpacas

paint ball

over spring break we had a paintball war at our house so I took a picture of the guys lined up in front of the house they just couldn't seem to not shoot towards.

Aubrey

My pictures this week use accessories to describe something about a person without seeing their face. Aubrey always wears a necklace along with a bracelet and rings.

muk lucks

I really don't know if I spelled that right. these are shoes wore by Alaskans in the winter. They are made of seal skin, some kind of fur, and hide. The girl wearing them is from the Inuite tribe.

embarrassed

This week I was going to do unheard but the photos I pictured just weren't turning out right. We went down to the Macy basement to take them and Liz had Nathan hold her phone while I took the pictures. He thought it would be highly funny to send a really embarrassing text to all the guys on her phone. I thought it would be interesting to take her picture while she was embarrassed because we often see people hesitant about getting their picture taken but not embarrassed by something else.

Gallery Reviews

I stopped by the high school show very quickly. there was one peice of an owl that had really good implied texture and I loved how they added blue into the feathers.

The Psalms show was also interesting. I enjoyed a chance to see the different styles.

the show in studio three is very different than anything I've ever seen. I wasn't sure at first if I liked the collage combined with the painting but I decided that I like parts of it while others not so much.

montana mountains

my trial in lightroom ran out so I didn't alter these at all. This is a group of pictures from Montana that I took over Christmas break. We went up into the mountains shooting one day. I had a blast shooting down all my brothers pigeons before him.

liz

Sorry this is sideways. I tried a couple different programs to rotate it but they wouldn't save that way.

These are picture of people playing the instruments. The one playing the viola is my roommate and the girl playing the flute is a friend from the floor. I wanted to give a sense of music and sound. I hope I achieved this for you.

Connections to home

This week I wanted to do connections that I have to home. But I didn't want to use the normal avenues like computers and cell phones. It was interesting to find how much I really did have that reminded me of home. Every two weeks or so my aunt sends me one of her home made cards with an update on the kids and everything that's been happening. The other picture is of a book on my bed. During the summer my sister and I read books aloud together so this years since I wouldn't be around during the school year she bought two copies of a book and we read it at the same time. When I go home we will talk about it together since we couldn't read it together.

These are pictures of animals at my roommate's house. I thought the different textures were fun.

Gallery Reviews

Pottery:
I've never experienced a pottery show before with so many different forms. It was amazing to see what unique shapes can be formed, how smooth the pieces are and how colorful and detailed.

Breanne Reeves:
This is a totally different view of Italian based art than is commonly shown. Very refreshing and made to country itself seem more bright.

Doug Champbell:
This was a very unique way to use color to make everyday situations draw viewers in. I loved that he chose to create these in this way so that people will look at the everyday world around them with new eyes. Sometimes we need to do that and then we find something extra exctiting.
